Financial Services Experience

2019 to 2024

With over 5 years of experience in financial services within Category 3A DFSA and FSRA-regulated firms, I have served as an Authorized Finance Officer, managing a wide range of financial operations. My expertise includes preparing PIB returns, overseeing capital adequacy, and updating regulatory business plans, while ensuring effective liquidity and risk management. I have reviewed funds’ NAV reports, coordinated with valuers for fund valuations, and managed client portfolio reconciliations. Additionally, I have handled proprietary trading account reconciliations, including bonds, derivatives, and FX. I’ve led teams, coordinated with auditors, ensured VAT compliance, and prepared ICAAP and IRAP reports. I have experience managing payroll and DEWS gratuity contributions, developing finance policies, and presenting financial statements to boards. Reporting directly to CEOs and liaising with investors for liquidity management, I drive strategic financial oversight and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

Contracting and Real Estate industry

2012 to 2018

I worked as an Accountant in the contracting and real estate industries. At Perfect Property Management, I was responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing daily cash flow forecasts, and performing customer account reconciliations. I also handled capital expenditures, managed fixed assets, and implemented best practices in collections to improve cash flow.

At Salam International, I oversaw the day-to-day accounting operations, including the preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, and internal audits. I also led a team of junior accountants, managed payroll for over 600 employees, and conducted cost analysis for ongoing projects, ensuring accurate budgeting and financial reporting.

Audit Experience
2010 to 2011

During my tenure as an Audit Intern at KPMG and an Audit Trainee at Qavi & Co. Chartered Accountants in Pakistan, I developed a strong foundation in external audits and IFRS compliance. At KPMG, I contributed to audits for clients across diverse industries, including real estate, by conducting stock counts, evaluating internal controls, and identifying operational inefficiencies. My role required ensuring strict adherence to international accounting standards, enhancing clients’ financial accuracy and compliance.

At Qavi & Co., I gained hands-on experience supporting audit engagements for medium and small-sized companies. My responsibilities included preparing detailed working papers, documenting business processes, and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls. Utilizing ERP software such as Oracle, I streamlined data collection and audit procedures, improving both accuracy and efficiency. These roles honed my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of audit methodologies, enabling me to deliver valuable insights to clients.
